Hey, I’m Zach the founder of Underdog Academy.

My journey in the dog industry started in 2012 during one of the hardest seasons of my life. After my dad was in a severe car accident, our family needed stability—and training our new puppy, Ripley, quickly became a necessity, not a hobby. What began as a way to protect my dad’s fragile recovery turned into my life’s work.

  • Started training in 2012 after my dad’s accident made “no mistakes” a real requirement at home

  • Ripley (named after my dad’s brain surgeon) became the spark that pulled me into the dog world

  • Helped grow a local dog training business alongside my dad during his recovery

  • Spent the next 10+ years building programs, operations, and client trust through real, repeatable results

  • Launched and scaled four dog-based brands from concept to profitability

Underdog Academy was created from a simple choice: let challenges define me, or use them to build something bigger. Today, I’m grateful for the team and the families who trust us with their dogs—and proud to deliver results we can genuinely stand behind for life.
